  • Advice on estate planning, establishment of trust structures and related entities.
  • Advice on the interpretation of trust deeds and supplemental trust documents.  
  • Advice on the restructuring of trust structures and assets, including winding up of trusts.
  • Advice to individual and professional trustees and other fiduciaries including trust administration, management, resettlements and variations of trusts and complex estates.  

International Trusts & Cross-border

  • Establishment of appropriate trust structures and related entities to hold international and offshore assets to achieve business and or personal objectives for asset protection, estate planning and business succession purposes.    

Relationship property

  • Advice on relationship property, preparation of relationship property agreements and contracting out of Section 21 of the Property (Relationships) Act 1976. 

Immigration & residency

  • Advice and filing of applications with Immigration New Zealand for residence under the Business categories, including the Active Investor Plus category.

General Counsel and Lawyer

  • Serve as "in-house counsel"/personal lawyer to you, your family office and/or family business to:
    • Identify and address legal issues pertaining to the assets being managed including financial assets, private equity, shares in closely held companies and operating businesses owned by the trustees.
    • Advice on financial service regulation in relation to banks, financial advisors, asset managers, custodians, investment products, private equity vehicles, financial assets and insurance policies,
    • Direct and/or facilitate transactions, review and/or draft legal documents such as contracts, corporate documents, governance documents, shareholder agreements, commercial contracts etc.
    • Direct and manage asset transactions, including reviewing sale and purchase agreements, banking/financing documents, investment fund agreements and subscriptions etc.
    • Identify and address any issues pertaining to the trust structures (and related entities) to ensure they remain in good standing.
    • Review estate planning and structures to update succession and relationship property planning (including antenuptial/prenuptial agreements) to ensure that the existing structures continue to serve your needs and that of your family.
  • Collaborate and work closely with your personal lawyers, accountants, bankers, members of the family office and other advisors.
  • Oversee and manage legal disputes, acting as instructing solicitor, and coordinating with barristers and external litigation lawyers to resolve contentious matters effectively.
